Easy Turnip Ideas

Posted by Chris Buss

Looking for new ways to prepare turnips? Try one of these easy ideas:

Dice, boil and mash turnips. Fry some lean smoked bacon until crisp. Crumble bacon and sprinkle it over the mashed turnips.

OR

Boil 2 large turnips in salted water for 30 to 35 minutes. Drain and mash. Add 3 tablespoons butter and 3 to 4 ounces grated Swiss cheese. Season to taste. Mix until cheese starts to melt.

OR

Wash, peel and cube turnips. Toss lightly in olive oil and place in a roasting pan. Bake slowly for 35 to 40 minutes in a 300 to 325-degree F. oven. Season with your favorite chopped herbs and serve.
