Posted by Carole Koch

1 cup flour
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup rutabaga; cooked and pureed
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Grease an 8-inch x 4-inch baking pan and line with wax paper. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg; mix well. In another bowl, beat egg and add rutabaga and oil. Add moist ingredients to dry ingredients all at once. Stir just enough to blend. Pour into prepared pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree F. oven, one hour, or till toothpick comes out clean.
