Rutabaga

Bashed Neeps

Posted by Carole Koch

This is a traditional Scottish accompaniment to haggis.

1 pound rutabaga, peeled and diced
2 tablespoons butter
Pinch of mace (optional)

Cook the rutabaga in boiling water for 15 minutes, until tender [or cook in microwave with 2 tablespoons water in microwave, 4-6 minutes]. Drain and mash well. Add remaining ingredients and mix well until the butter is melted and incorporated. Season according to taste.
