Glazed Carrots with Five Spices

3/4 cup water
8 medium carrots (about 1 pound), sliced diagonally 1/2 inch thick
1 stick cinnamon
3/4 teaspoons cumin
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon coriander
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons honey
2 teaspoons lemon juice
Bring water to a boil. Add next 6 ingredients. Gently boil; cover and simmer for 12 minutes. Uncover; add honey and juice. Raise heat to high. Boil until all water is gone and carrots are tender, about 4 minutes.
Serves 4.
